I can't find a case I am sure is on Xchange.
When you do not get the search results you expected, it is often because the search you did was too specific. Always start with the asterisk wildcard * feature to keep your search broad enough to pull in any middle names or initials that may have been entered at the court. When you type in a name (or a portion of a name) with the *, Xchange will return ALL matches to your entry. For example, if you are searching for John B. Doe, try entering the first name as John* . This will return all John Does as well as John Does with middle names or middle initials entered.
How do middle names work in Xchange?
Clerks enter middle names if they are included in court filings, in the first name field after the first name. Is Xchange available at courthouses?
Public terminals are available at many district courts for Xchange access.
Are party addresses available on Xchange?
Party addresses on public cases are available on Xchange if they were provided to the court. Click the party first or last name on the Results screen to view the address on the Party Details screen. Party addresses on private cases are not available through Xchange. See UCJA 4-202.02 for a list of cases classified as private.

How long are cases kept on Xchange?
Case information remains accessible on Xchange until it is expunged or sealed by court order.
What cases are not available on Xchange?
Case types such as adoptions, civil mental health commitments, criminal NA, and juvenile court cases are not shown on Xchange. Expunged cases are removed from Xchange upon entry of an expungement order. Cases sealed by judicial order do not appear on Xchange. Cases filed before a justice court began using CORIS may not be available on Xchange.
Can I remove my case from Xchange?
A criminal case may only be removed from Xchange if it is expunged. Utah state law allows for expunging criminal cases. See Expunging a Record for information on expunging criminal cases.
Civil court cases are public information. A civil case cannot be removed from Xchange. In unique circumstances, a judge may seal case information. Sealed case information is not available on Xchange
What if I see information that is incorrect?
The official record keepers for the district courts are the clerks of court. The official record keepers for the justice courts are the clerks in each court. If you believe data displayed on in Xchange is incorrect, please contact the clerk in the court where the case is filed. Contact information for each court can be found at: http://www.utcourts.gov/directory/
Why can't I find bankruptcy cases?
Bankruptcy cases are handled by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. They are not available on Xchange.
Why do I get: "Your search returned more than the maximum number of results allowed. Only the first 500 results will be displayed."
When you search for a common name, you may receive too many results from your search. If this happens, narrow your search by entering any additional information you know about the case (other than "name"). This might include: the county, the court location, the case type or a date range for the filing or disposition of the case(s). By using this additional information, you will get a smaller and more targeted set of results from your search.
Where can I find federal charges?
Federal charges will be on the federal courts system. Information on PACER, the federal court case lookup system, can be found at http://pacer.psc.uscourts.gov/
What is CORIS?
CORIS is the courts case management program from which the Xchange information is taken. Information is available in Xchange immediately upon entry in CORIS.
